Friday's orientation reminded me of what it was like to actually sit through a lecture. We had a talking to by the science faculty about all that normal stuff - work hard, ask lecturers, etc, etc. We had first years with us, so I guess that was partially justified, but it was rather boring.
Free lunch followed (yay) which was a very greasy barbeque, but it tasted so good. Met my aunt and uncle from Malaysia, as well as my uncle and aunt and cousins from Toronto just before another 'workshop' at 2 called "Canada, Eh?" Which is totally my title =p It was meant to be about Canadian Culture and stuff, but it didn't really teach us anything. It was occasionally funny, and they neatly cast a complete nerd ("You have to start studying on the first day of classes, not the first week, the first day"), as the left-out foreign student in a couple of the skits, much to our amusement.
Also got a photo of Shie (I think that's how you spell her name) sleeping in the workshop, but I don't think she'd appreciate me posting it =P
It was ok, but as it was meant to be the best one, I skipped the next one and talked with relatives some more. Pictures were taken:

Friday night we went on a cruise around the harbour in Vancouver. Twas a little bit cold, the food was almost non-existent (half a pastry anyone?) but again, the views were fairly spectacular. Water tends to make that happen a bit.

Saturday I got a pancake breakfast =D Maple syrup, frozen berries and chocolate chips. It was awesome (and also great to have a proper breakfast =P). Did some washing (see, I can do it myself =P), and then a trip to Grandview Island for the afternoon, where we wondered around some markets, which were pretty impressive, and ate stuff. It was really good, although I did feel ripped off when I bought a cup of watermelon juice for $3.5o or something which was probably 250ml or less.

Got back on Saturday and there were people everywhere. The college suddenly filled up, so a floor meeting followed by some games and talking. It was pretty cool to get to know people and talk for a while.
It was also my first meal at the college, and I was pretty impressed. You walk into the dining hall and it's like a food court. There are probably 4 or 5 stores, as well as a salad bar and other stuff. You pick what you want, and then walk through to the cash registers where you pay for it (with your student card). It's fairly cheap too. Highlight being 69 cents for a cup of soft drink. I paid $2.69 for a large slice of pizza and a cup of coke, which was probably the cheapest dinner I've had in a while (subsequent meals have been more expensive though).

Sunday (being yesterday) was a pretty easy day. Slept in and tried my best to clean my room. Kinda hard with washing hanging everywhere, but I did manage to shove some stuff into the drawers and things. Tried to play volleyball in the afternoon, but managed to pick up my first injury - a twisted ankle after about 5 minutes. Thus ended my volleyball session and I spent the rest of the afternoon watching. Dinner and then icecream and games. And then someone brought out the Nintendo 64 =D

Super Smash Brothers was played for a couple of hours after the games, and then back to my room and onto the internet. Chatted for a while and then went to bed.
Anyways, this post is going to end here. I'll edit it later with photos, but I'm meant to be at a barbeque at the moment. Not sure where though, because it's raining outside, but I guess I'll find it =P
Seeya :)

Some people were playing an emulator version of Super Smash Brothers on one of the computers in EM126 the other day!
Well done for being, rather than the typical nerd, the typical uni bum: you have to skip lectures on your first day, not your first week!
Are you the only one in Canada who knows how to smile? And too bad about your knee.
Hmm..? What happened to the knee?
