There are a couple of good things about Vista. One of them being the spiffy-ness of it all. But the one I'm liking most at the moment is the photo screen saver. When I have time, I like to just start the screen saver, and then watch the photos go by. It randomly goes through the photos, and I get to see a whole bunch of things, most of which I've seen on my trip so far. Helps me remember (mostly) the good times, people I've met, and things like that.
As the trip goes on and on, and I, with a stupidly large memory card and a penchant
for taking photos, get more and more photos of later in the trip, and the earlier bits of my trip come up less and less. Kinda like my memory..... =P
But the point of this comment wasn't to create some metaphor for my memory, it's just to say that if you're going on a long trip by yourself, the Vista Photo Screen Saver is a good reason to upgrade to Vista, if you don't want to buy yourself a digital picture frame (which will no doubt have crappy resolution anyway).
Of course, then you have to deal with the fact that your system slows down to half it's original speed.....
Anyhow, what's happened since my last post? Umm... a lot of work. I spent most of Monday trying to study for my Computer Graphics "Quiz" (read: one of two tests this semester), and that was about it. Had a couple of lectures, and it wasn't too bad. Studied Monday night too - along with watching the new episode of Heroes (which was awesome as always =P).
Tuesday I had my quiz, as well as a group assignment due. Studied a bit during the day with a couple of friends, and luckily the group assignment was mostly done, so we finished it off during the lab and didn't have to think about it after that.
The quiz wasn't too bad, I came out of it thinking I'd done ok, and was more encouraged (or maybe slightly discouraged) when, as soon as everyone had handed up their papers, three people went up to the lecturer to complain. Lecturer was rightly annoyed, everyone was annoyed, although I was feeling rather pleased with myself =P
Turns out that since then I've realised I screwed up one of the questions majorly - probably due to the pressure as I was checking through it, and changing answers which I think were originally correct. Bugger =( Less than 50% for that question I reckon, and it was pretty easy =(
The Quiz itself was a little weird. It was held in a classroom (the one which we have the lectures in - it's a small class), and we had to spread out. We also had to present our student IDs, and had to stay in our seats after handing it up, until they were counted. We also couldn't leave before the half an hour mark, or enter after it (it was a 55 minute test). It's like an exam... but not. Haven't had one of them in a while =P
Oh well, came back Tuesday, and played video games for a little bit. I'm playing more and more Halo, and I've got to say I'm enjoying it more and more. I'm still not convinced that the XBOX360 controller has the best setup, but I'll live with it. Playing online is pretty awesome, although the people with headsets... shouldn't be allowed to have them =P
Wednesday was kinda fun. I had my spider to finish off. I had an 8am lecture, which I went to (I haven't skipped a lecture yet =)) and then hit the lab at 9.... for 6 hours (reminds me of a certain robot program in first year). Got out at 3, wondering what sunlight was (good thing it was raining, as normal, so it didn't hurt my eyes too much), but with a spider that gets squished by a teapot:
Wanted to change a couple of things in the end, but couldn't be bothered.
I took most of last night off. Which was good. My house and its partner-house, held a "Coffee House" thing, where people came with instruments and played, while everyone sat around and listened. It was pretty good, a few rather talented people there, heaps of people with guitars and singing, and a trumpet (=D) and a couple of saxophones. The trumpet being the dude in the room next to me, and the saxophone being the dude on the second floor who woke everyone up at 9am the day after everyone moved in. We also had someone recite Shakespeare (rather well, but...well... it was Shakespeare) and someone juggle, which was kinda cool. Some people were good... others not so good, but it was a good way to waste a couple of hours.
[The Shakespeare was Ophelia (I think) from Merchant of Venice - talking to Shylock about mercy]
Today I woke up half dead. I still hadn't woken up properly by the time I got to my lecture. However, the guest lecturer managed to keep me awake - with issues about copyright and patents, which was actually rather interesting. Good stuff to know as well, so it was pretty good.
However, after that lecture I came back to my room and crashed into my bed. Slept for two hours, had lunch, finished off the assignment, went to another lecture, bought some food, came back, played Super Smash Brothers and Halo again, and I've done nothing of worth all night (except write this blog post).
Umm... yeah, that's about it. Too lazy to do photos at the moment. I'm going to Seattle on Sunday morning, coming back Monday night, so that should be fun. Other than that... tomorrow I've got to sort a few things out...
Yup, that's it. Bye =P

|Who are you? =P.
(Yay for studying all day...)
Spiiiiidddddeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
(In the words of a children's book a rather like) Very good!
Did you know that non-Vista computers do the screen-save picture scroll through? I hope I haven't ruined your dreams and goals, etc., by that statement, but it's probably best that you know the truth.
Halo...I've played that! Really badly! But you get to fly, so that's cool. Actually, on EU's leadership camp, someone brought along Halo, and they hooked it up so it was 8 player, and they named the characters after the Staff workers. After a while, Lochy yells "Can the person playing me be less bad please?"
Music/Shakespeare/Coffee night sounds fun. :)
Yep, I said that non-Vista Windows do the picture thing, but he didn't believe me. Probably because I use a mac. Oh well..
Oops... I'm crushed, and that kinda makes this blog post very redundant (as opposed to the other which are a little redundant =P). Oh well.
And that's Florence, who's also on exchange and is in my graphics class. She's got a bunch of VERY nice photos of Vancouver on her Facebook account(I'm jealous =P)
