All the Leaves are Brown...

... and the skies are gray
(and the skies are graaaay)

Reminds me of a certain Sketch Show episode. =D

Anyhow, the leaves are very brown, and the skies are very gray, it's about as cold as it ever gets in Adelaide, and we're only halfway through Autumn. As it stands though, my room is boiling hot all the time, due to the stupid central heating system here.

There's cupboard running underneath my window. Inside that there are heating elements which are uniformly heated throughout the whole building. I can theoretically control how much air gets out of the cupboard by opening vents. However, even with the vents completely closed, it's still way too hot. ("I hear what you're saying and it sounds like this: *whine whine* it's too hot whine whine whine*")

[Woo hoo, two Sketch Show references in the one post =D]

Anyways, I've been rather busy as of late, and this is going to continue for the next two weeks. Saturday I finally started doing work at 10pm at night, which, hardly surprisingly, meant that I got next to nothing done. Sunday I went to church again, and then went shopping for a new hard drive. I got one from FutureShop, which is a rather cool - and large - technology shop. I also went to Best Buy to have a look, which is also similarly cool and large. 320gb for C$113, after tax (or about A$125). It's external, and has USB and network interfaces, which is a plus. It also means that I've been downloading stuff like crazy off the network.

I've got the 51 out of the 52 episodes of Samurai Pizza Cats off the network, as well as the movie. So I looked up why it's so funny, and I discovered that the English version (it's a Japanese Cartoon - of course), is dubbed, but the actual content differs a lot from the original Japanese script. Hardly surprising, this happens with a lot of dubbed cartoons. The difference is, with SPC, the cartoon was dubbed without a copy of the Japanese script. Which means they made it up based on the screens.

Ever seen that game on Whose Line is it Anyway? =D It makes things really funny. You should all see at least one episode (they're only 20 minutes long anyway).

So I've got a lot of work to do. Midterm on Thursday (exam worth 25% for that particular subject), and then two assignments due Friday, one of which is that Sudoku solver and the Exam Scheduler. Unfortunately, both of those are taking much longer than I thought they would, which means I may be handing it up late. That subject, however, has this weird concept called "late days" where you're allowed to hand it up late - you get 4 days to use at your disposal.

Anyways, I've also got a large programming assignment due next Thursday, another group assignment due that day as well, and (here's the killer) three more midterms on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the week after. ("I hear what you're saying and it sounds like this: *whine whine whine* I've got too much work *whine whine whine*")

So it turns out that I've got a lot of work to do. And what do I do when I've got a lot of work to do? Procrastinate =D I even cleaned my room yesterday.

Yeah, cleaned my room =P

It turns out that in the process of cleaning my room, I found my 10% off Futureshop Student Discount card that I got given when I got here. Damn =(

Anyways, this was going to be a quick post (and I guess it kinda still is). It was definitely a bitching post, and for that I apologise. Hopefully after this I'll be able to find some time to go skiing. May or may not happen, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hope you're all doing well. =)

Oh, and before I forget. My little spider animation made it to the hall of fame =D I've now officially left my mark on UBC (it'll be viewable for years to come =P), so I can leave now (or not).

Woo hall of fame!

At least they heat your place properly. Silly people in Australia couldn't heat a house if their lives depended on it. Good thing they don't...

Ummm...open the window? Bonus points for referencing the same Sketch Show episode!

Oh my goodness, that is an amazing fact re: SPC. Do you remember watching Whose Line at the end of term one day in year 9 (I think), and they had "The big banana" as the translation from foreign language film?
On your return I shall endeavour to watch an episode of these pizza cats of yours...

I don't think that going skiing will necessarily make for better reading in a post - it'll just make us all jealous :P

To conclude, one more sketch show reference:

ARGH!
ARGH!
ARGH!

(someone who is frightened of...something, someone who is frightened by sudden screams, and a third person who is terrified of repetition)

Actually, that's not really a reference, just a straight out quotation with no context. Whatever.

p.s. I'm not the only one who had never heard of Samurai Pizza Cats until I met you - Ben Ashley had no idea what I was on about the other day either, when they happened to come up in conversation (that type of thing happens over here)

p.p.s. LIES!!! Your profile says you are in Adelaide! Particularly ironic for someone with a blogspot called Justin in Canada.

p.p.p.s. Speaking of which, nice banner!
